CINCINNATI (WXIX) – While Bengals star Joe Burrow was in Dallas for “Monday Night Football,” his Anderson Township home was burglarized, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office confirmed the burglary occurred Monday just after 8 p.m.
Olivia Pontona model and social media influencer, went to his home in Anderson Township and found a bedroom window shattered and the room “ransacked,” a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office incident report explains.
Olivia Ponton then called her mother, Diane Ponton, who called 911, the incident report shows.
Hamilton County dispatch received the call and Diane Ponton told them Olivia Ponton was at Burrow’s home when the burglary occurred, according to a recording of the call.
“Someone is trying to break into the house right now,” Diane Ponton can be heard telling the dispatcher. “My daughter is here. This is Joe Burrow’s house. She stays there; He is at the football game.”
“She said someone was in the house,” Diane Ponton told the dispatcher.
An officer was already working security at Burrow’s home when the burglary was reported to 911, the Hamilton County dispatcher told the caller.
When officers looked around the home, an officer noticed that the suspects were no longer there. Officers spoke with neighbors to obtain surveillance images of the possible suspects.
The burglary at Burrow’s home comes not long after the NFL issued a security memo about recent home burglaries. Associated Press reported on November 21.
The league’s memo came after Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had their homes broken into.
The NFL, according to the APsaid the homes of professional athletes were “increasingly the target of burglaries by organized and expert groups.”
It is unclear whether the burglary at Burrow’s home is connected to the groups suspected of targeting professional athletes.
The AP did write, “officials noted that these groups are targeting homes on days when athletes have competitions.”
Burrow and the Bengals were in Dallas on Monday.
Mahomes and Kelce’s homes were burglarized before and on the day of the Chiefs’ Oct. 7 home game against the New Orleans Saints, the AP explained.
